Mask Safety

Gila Crossing Families,

Under the new Executive Order #16, issued by Governor Lewis, the face mask requirement has been lifted. Face masks are no longer required in the school. The GCCS Board of Trustees amended our policy to reflect the Executive Order and face masks are now optional for students and staff on campus.

We also know that you may still elect to have your student(s) wear masks, and we will honor that option. If you do want your student to continue to wear a mask, please let Brittany, May or your student's teacher know.

Tribal Health has offered the following guidance to the schools:  The Tribal Health Department continues to recommend that masks be worn while in the workplace and while providing direct service to the public.  This advisement is due to being in the influenza season, the anticipation of higher COVID-19 case rates during influenza and winter season, more employees becoming ill during the influenza and winter season, the prolonged time we all spent in the workplace with others we do not live with, and the health impacts to individuals if they contract influenza and/or COVID-19, especially to American Indians/Native Americans, due to their health conditions and health disparities, and/or to individuals that are not Up to Date with their vaccinations.

GCCS will still be doing health screenings for everyone who comes on campus, as required in the school reopening plans.

If you have any questions, please call the front office or email: contact@gccseagles.org
